Wash at 30'C

FurTech garments only need a re-proof every 5 or 6 washes, saving resource and money. Granger's 30'C cleaner works well. Please follow the instructions on the bottle.

Grangers has joined forces with Oxfam in their Fabric 4 Life project. Outdoor kit donated to Oxfam will be reproofed by Grangers and resold through the Oxfam shops, making them some money. Reusable always trumps recyclable, this time in more ways than one!

Durable

FurTech garments have no fragile membrane to delaminate, crack or puncture. Re-proofing our garments with Grangers 2in1 (or similar products) means that they will continue working for many, many years. They are also easily repairable.

Reproofing

We recommend using Grangers because independent tests have shown thet their durable water repellency lasts the longest and it doesn't leave wax on the FurTech transparent visor (if you use a wax based brand then the residue can be carefully wiped off with a soapy cloth, taking care not to get soap on the jacket). Grangers have enhanced their green credentials by developing products suitable for low temperature wash cycles. They are certified under ISO 14001 for environmental standards.

Repairable

FurTech garments can be darned or patched using synthetic fabrics and thread. Just sew the inner and outer fabric separately and re-proof with Grangers or a similar product. Repairability always trumps recyclability!

Durable, Recyclable Polyester

Polyester is far more UV resistant than (untreated) polyamide which fades noticeably after a few seasons of use and loses some of its strength. Polyester is also more easily recyclable.

FurTech garments use polyester outer and inner fabrics for durability and recyclability. These fabrics also absorb less water than untreated polyamide.

Products that Last

FurTech garments have the benefit of lasting much longer than conventional membrane hardshells and softshells, which can suffer from delamination, cracking and puncture. Eliminating the membrane eliminates these problems.

I have a garment using Fur type technology dating from 1992. It has been used, abused and repaired many times yet remains waterproof. This level of durability not only saves you the cost of replacement but reduces the impact on the environment: reusable always trumps recyclable.
